I work with stoneware clay, which has a very characteristic aesthetics. For supporting this fact I developed a "system of controlled coincidence" which encourages the development of irregularities in form, surface and colour. By grinding some parts of the sculpture with diamond tools after glaze firing, I highlight the stony character of the stoneware and produce a subtle palette of colour and texture. The outside appearance of the material is not meant as an end in itself, but as a flexible instrument in gaining the idea of sculpture.
